Dubai-style Chocolates
Everyone loves Dubai style chocolate these days! The original bar blends rich chocolate with a crunchy filling of pistachio cream, tahini, and delicate strands of shredded phyllo (knafeh/kataifi) pastry.
I decided to simplify the ingredients for this recipe, so my chocolates contain just 4 ingredients – pistachio creme, roasted and salted pistachio nuts, icing sugar and chocolate. Easy enough for kids to make, it’s very hard to stop at eating these once you start!
The pistachio creme is now available in all supermarkets – the cheapest is probably Lidl. It may be in the ingredients’ aisle, or with spreads jam and peanut butter.

- 150 g milk chocolate (Cooking or eating chocolate)
- 90 g pistachio creme

- On a small plate, spread out the icing sugar.
- Take a small piece of the pistachio mix, and roll into a ball. it should be about 1inch (1.75cm) in diameter. Roll in the icing sugar and put on the edge of the plate.
- Do the same with the rest of the pistachio mix. You should have between 12-16 balls.
- Put in the fridge for 30 mins to set.
- After 25 mins, begin to melt the chocolate.
- Roll each pistachio ball in the melted chocolate until it is covered all over with chocolate. Shake the excess chocolate off. Place on a plate which is covered with baking parchment or greaseproof paper.
